Orthopedic Physician Assistant
Donna Cooper practices with Atlanta Orthopedics as a Physician Assistant. As a Physician Assistant, Donna is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia under the supervision of a physician. Since the completion of her training, she has practiced in the field of orthopedics. Donna is experienced at conducting physical examinations, diagnosing and treating injuries and illnesses, and caring for hospitalized patients.
Donna received a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Sports Medicine and Education from East Stroudsburg University (Pennsylvania) and the University of Arizona (Tucson), respectively. She graduated Cum Laude. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Emergency Medicine Sciences in Orlando, FL. She then earned a Master of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Emory University (Atlanta).
Donna is both a Board Certified Physician Assistant and a Board Certified Athletic Trainer. She worked as the head Athletic Trainer at the University of Georgia as well as working on multiple Olympic venues over the course of 6 years.
Donna is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Georgia Association
of Physician Assistants and the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Donna has worked as a Physician Assistant for 18 years in the specialty field of Orthopedic Surgery and has a special interest and training in sports medicine and the surgery of hands, knees, and shoulders.
At Atlanta Orthopedics, Donna is involved with our patients in all aspects of orthopedic care. Her responsibilities include evaluations and care of patients in the office, emergency room and hospital, as well as providing assistance to our physicians during complex surgical procedures in the operating room.
