Referral From Emergency Room
If you have been given our practice information after a visit to an Emergency Room, we are here to make the care of your injury as easy as possible.
You have been referred to Atlanta Orthopedics, the experts in musculoskeletal injury care in the metro-Atlanta area. We understand that being injured can have a significant impact on your life. We know that you will have a variety of concerns and anxieties about your injury. Our goal is to provide you the best medical care available for your injury as efficiently as possible.
Unless you were personally evaluated at the hospital by an Atlanta Orthopedics physician or physician assistant you will need to come into our office for an appointment according to the direction of your Emergency Room physician. We cannot treat you, give you medical advice, nor provide any medications by phone until you come into our office for a formal appointment.
Please call one of our offices at your earliest convenience to arrange to come in for an appointment. Our practice is designed to get you in to see us in a very timely fashion, typically within 24-48 hours if desired. Once you have made an appointment, please download and print out our new patient forms and bring them with you to our office at the time of your appointment.
We are able to accept most insurances. You will be asked about your insurance coverage when you call for an appointment, and we will be able to help you to determine if our practitioners are in your insurance network or not. If you do not have health insurance, or if you have other coverage such as an auto insurance case, you can discuss your situation with one of our financial counselors. All of our physicians and pertinent staff are certified by the Georgia State Board of Workers Compensation, and they are all ready to help you deal with your work injuries. Our financial staff is also able to help you sort out issues with liability, third party coverage, and legal advice. We understand that the financial aspects of an injury can be quite confusing.
Our primary goal is to get you in to our office for a visit so that we can evaluate your injury and situation so that we can help determine what is the best plan of care for you. We are experts at caring for all types of musculoskeletal injuries. Our practice specializes in taking care of injured patients through our Center for Orthopedic Trauma and Fracture Care and our Accidental Work and Injuries Center.
We are able to care for all types of injuries including fractures, joint sprains and muscle strains, back and neck injuries, cuts and bruises, children’s fractures, hand injuries, fractures in the elderly and all types of work injuries. The treatments we offer include surgery, casting and bracing, physical therapy, medications, and other non-surgical therapies.
Our physicians are the primary orthopedic coverage for the Emergency Room at Gwinnett Medical Center, which is a Georgia State Trauma Center, and one of the busiest Emergency Rooms in the region. Dr. Todd Zeigler is the Director of Orthopedic Trauma at the Gwinnett Health System, and Dr. DarrelScales and Dr. Jonathan Mathers also participate in the Orthopedic Emergency Room Coverage and Trauma Service at Gwinnett Medical Center. Dr. Ruben Diaz adds expertise in the non-surgical care of back and neck injuries.
So that we can get you in for an evaluation as quickly as possible, your initial appointment may be with one of our experienced Physician Assistants. Our physician assistants are highly trained and licensed practitioners that treat patients independently, with back-up supervision from our orthopedic surgeons. Our Physician Assistants work very closely with our Orthopedic Surgeons to be sure that we develop the best treatment plan for all of our injured patients. Our Physician Assistants are specifically trained in the care of musculoskeletal injuries by Dr. Todd Zeigler, the director of our Center for Orthopedic Trauma and Fracture Care.
