Jerry Mercedat practices with Atlanta Orthopedics as a Physician Assistant. As a Physician Assistant, Jerry is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia under the supervision of a physician. Since the completion of his training, he has practiced in the field of orthopedics. Jerry is experienced at conducting physical examinations, diagnosing and treating injuries and illnesses, and caring for hospitalized patients
Jerry Mercedat is originally from Montreal, Canada and he moved to Miami in 1996. He attended the Miami Dade College Physician Assistant program then Nova Southeastern University where he obtained his Masters of Medical Science Degree. He graduated with High Honors in 2004. After graduation, he began working at The Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Knee Care where he acquired considerable experience in sports medicine, general orthopedics and knee and hip related injuries and diseases.
In 2004, he relocated to Columbus, Georgia and the renowned Hughston Clinic. This provided him with the opportunity to develop clinical and surgical skills in the subspecialty of spinal surgery and care. His professional experience also includes time at The Orthopedic Institute of Mercy Hospital, where he learned the most advanced techniques in arthroscopic hip and knee surgeries as well as total joint replacements. Also in 2004, his interest in research and general medicine led to article publications on diabetes and its related complications.
Jerry became nationally board certified as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) in 2002 and recently recertified in 2008. He is a member of the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He is fluent in French, Creole and basic Spanish to better serve our multi-cultural community.
At Atlanta Orthopedics, Jerry is involved with our patients in all aspects of orthopedic care. His responsibilities include evaluations and care of patients in the office, emergency room and hospital, as well as providing assistance to our physicians during complex surgical procedures in the operating room.
